1-26-20 Varsity Wrestler of the Week: Rudy Castrigano. Rudy has been wrestling up a weight class all year and working hard to get that elusive varsity pin. Well his hard work paid off going 2-0 on the varsity mat pinning his Twinsburg opponent. Awesome job Rudy!

J.B. earned two all-star victories by way of pin against his opponents this past weekend. J.B. was aggressive and showed real grit in his two victories. Way to go J.B.!

Nick Pollak, a first year wrestler, traveled to the tough Kenston OAC Sectional and came away with a first place finish. Nick battled all day long to come away with the championship and a ticket to the district tournament. Way to go Nick!

Cooper won his second straight tournament on Sunday 1-4 at Ravenna. After winning the Barberton Battle for the Belt with 3 pins, Cooper won the Ravenna tournament with 2 decisions and 1 pin. Great Job Cooper

William , a first year wrestler won the Barberton Battle for the Belt at 75 lbs. He defeated 3 straight opponents to take home the gold medal. Great Job William!

Gavin, a first year wrestler, won his first match at Barberton in a sudden-death tie breaker, then defeated his second opponent by major decision to take home his first tournament championship. Great Job Gavin!

12-1-19 Varsity Wrestler of the Week Steven Voytilla. Steven stepped up to varsity for our first league dual of the season and picked up a huge pin to help seal the victory for JAWS over Crestwood. Great job stepping up for the team Steven!

Jaws will be competing in the Northeast Ohio Youth Wrestling Association (NEOYWA). In this league we will be competing against local schools beginning in December on Sundays. Solon, Twinsburg, Crestwood, Nordonia, Kenston, Mayfield, Garrettsville, and Cuyahoga Hts. are member clubs of the NEOYWA. This is a great opportunity for beginners and advanced wrestlers alike to compete, and learn the sport of wrestling.

- For Sunday duals, Boys should weigh-in from lightest to heaviest in singlets only. NO SHOES. Hands will be marked with years of experience and weight. Put on warmup and shoes after weigh-in. Parents please assist our little ones with shoes.

Jaws will also be attending open tournaments throughout the season. This higher level of competition will challenge our advanced wrestlers to reach an elite level of the sport and will mostly be on Saturdays.
